I Saw The Light

Not my will but yours be done

It’s all that will matter when the course is run

God’s power is what it takes

So when I succeed, I must give thanks

To him for being so good to me

Without his goodness where would you be

Bless the Lord oh my soul

He’s the only hope I know

Who gives forgiveness of sin

And redeems your life from the mess it’s in

All of my plans will fall through

So I don’t think more of myself than I ought to

God’s destiny is best for me

Because he already knows how the end will be

My ways are wrong and his ways are right

So I’ll give up my plight and live in the light

I don’t know if I should turn to the right or left

But I know God will be my guide ‘til death

He’ll guide my feet to the way of peace

To the merry of heart every day’s feast

Loved by him I was born to be

The world is bitter but the Lord is sweet

The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak

So spiritual things are the best to seek

I’ve been brought to a brighter way

From the black of night to the light of day

I could still do wrong but I will be strong

By the grace of God the thrill is gone

I was headed for big disaster

But now I have a different master

Whose yoke is easy and burden is light

The entrance of his words gives light

There’s a time to weep and a time to laugh

A time to mourn and a time to dance

The time to laugh is coming now

Because the time to weep is running out

I know this world isn’t wonderland

But I go through things I don’t understand

Where could I go but to the Lord

He’s the only true resort

My life’s been hard since the moment it started

But he was sent to bind up the broken hearted

I’ve been wounded really bad

But there is a balm in Gilead

So I will dwell in his secret place

I will continually seek his face

Everything’s going to be alright

Praise the Lord I saw the light
